That crisp autumn weather has finally hit, but I still have a handful of outfits to share from sweater and sandals season (my personal favourite time of year).
I intentionally wanted to run through the details on this trench coat and sandals outfit first. Mostly because I often get remarks saying that seasonally, it doesn’t work. But in this situation, I’m wearing the trench in the same way that I would a piece of light outerwear. This day was pretty warm, but in the shade it would feel cool so made sense to have a layer, and I do love the drama that a longer jacket tends to add to an outfit. Overall this is a pretty neutral toned outfit, so I’ve added in a colour block with my black tank, which tucked gives me that one-third to two-thirds ratio that is appealing on the eye. Texture is everywhere; from the woven nature of the trench, to the raw hems of my jeans. But the little Easter egg moment hidden underneath my jacket here is that the tank has a kooky asymmetrical neckline. I love this as when I have my hair down, it gives the illusion that I’m wearing a one-shoulder tank.

You may recognise the bag from a recent come shopping with me video. Not mine, just borrowing from a friend. I was so drawn to the style , which feels very reminiscent of the Bottega Jodie with a more friendly price point. Not to mention that murky, mucky brown hue. Always appreciate a chance to take something like this on my wishlist on a test drive, and right now, this one is a maybe. The opening is a little tricky to get in and out of, but it is a good size for the essentials. That oversized ball adornment to the keychain is something special, that’s for sure. Here, testing a neutral toned combination. Key when doing a tonal look is to consider the undertone; cool or warm? Dressing in a gradient is usually my fallback when I want to achieve that long and lean look.

Two of my go-to items. This outfit isn’t groundbreaking. It’s not even “special”. What it is though, is reflective of an effortless pairing which I can throw on and still feel reasonably styled despite the lack of effort. And taking a magnifying glass to it, I wonder if it’s the combination of two trending elements. The injection of the colour grey (which, don’t we all want to be wearing all grey right now?). And the fluid drape trousers. The one detail I wish I’d omitted from this outfit is the necklace. Which on its on, I adore, but it feels incongruent with the rest of the outfit. More light, bright and spring-like than cool and cosy.

Final outfit to share, is one that I wore to lunch with Aveda. Dressed up, but still wholly within my style DNA. The core of this outfit is quite feminine and sweet, amplified by the darling polka dot print and flirty hemline of the skirt. I leaned into that a bit. Ballerina flats. Chanel classic flap. Pearl and gold beaded necklace. The core outfit of which felt like it was lacking some friction. My Tibi Liam blazer was the antidote for that, adding in some slouchy nonchalance which made it feel less done up, yet still entirely appropriate for a beautiful lunch setting. Of the four, I think this is my favourite. Always one for dressing up, whenever I get the opportunity.
