And we are done. 30 days, and just under 30 items. I had a little look at my list – which saw a few changes over the course of the month – and all up I ended up incorporating 28 items into my outfits. I could definitely sense towards the end of the challenge, my own hesitancy to add anything in. It almost felt like a cheat to include a piece I may only end up wearing once, maybe twice. Especially when there were only a handful of days left in my spring capsule.
I’d like to do more of a detailed recap later this week. For a start, I feel like it’d be helpful to give a complete overview of the 28 pieces I ended up wearing for my spring capsule. And within this, talk about the substitutions I made, and the “newer” items I incorporated. Additionally, I want to take some time to reflect on why I felt this capsule just didn’t really do it for me. I mentioned earlier how much I loved my winter capsule, but I found it really hard to get on board with my spring one. Was it the weather? The items I chose? The styling?
But for now, let’s talk about my final five outfits of the month.
day twenty-six
So there technically wasn’t an outfit for day 26. I was feeling tired from the weekend, so spent Monday in my pyjamas. Basically, I decided to extend the weekend a day.
day twenty-seven
Wearing Everlane waffle henley; Arket trousers; Everlane 40 hour flats; Polene Cabas tote; Mejuri moon bracelet; Nyssa petal bracelet; Linjer gem bracelet; Filippo Loreti signet ring
I really loved the colour palette of this outfit. Cool, earthy tones. And more so, I loved the waffle henley from Everlane. This always happens with a capsule. I get caught up wearing a handful of favourites, that I hold out to wear some pieces until the very end. And the moment I put this on, I questioned why I hadn’t been reaching for it earlier. It’s super soft, and the sizing is nice and relaxed (I’m wearing the S here). My only gripe with the style is that the hem is simply overlocked and not properly finished. That aside, it’s a nice, comfortable basic. Great for lounging about the house in.
Majority of my outfits have been simple in their nature, and this was no different. I kinda stuck to the three colour rule here. Cream top, deep green trousers, and a taupe coloured bag. Black and white don’t technically count – hence how I’m able to get away with the dark shoes. It feels like there’s a bit of balance here in the colour scheme too; lighter colours up top, and darker colours on my lower half.
day twenty-eight
Wearing Alex Mill shirt; Everlane cheeky straight jeans; Everlane 40 hour flats; Polene cabas tote; Ana Luisa necklaces & earrings
Button downs shirts are a staple. You know, one of those good ride or die classics that never go out of style. Which is largely why I decided to include one in this capsule. It was one of the items I wanted to encourage myself to wear more, and I like the fact that this particular one is a shape shifter. The collar comes off which completely changes the look. Instead of tucking it in – my usual approach with a top like this – I wore it loose with my (slim) straight leg jeans. I actually really liked this silhouette. It felt chill. Much more relaxed than my usual outfit combinations. To dress it up a little, I went for a pointed toe flat. No surprises there!
day twenty-nine
Wearing Bassike waffle tank; Assembly Label linen pants; Birkenstock sandals; Everlane studio bag
Second-t-last day of my capsule, and I opted for an easy spring time look. A racerback tank, linen trousers, and some slip on sandals. I broke that rule of not pairing black and navy together – again – as I love the subtle colour shift. By the way, a review of the Everlane Studio bag is coming. Expect to see that later this week.
day thirty
Wearing Alessandra Cashmere top; Yan13 shorts; Jane Debster slides; Polene Numero Neuf bag
And we made it. The end of my 30 day spring capsule. The sun was out, which felt like a good reason to put on an outfit that would make me smile. I immediately thought to grab this dobby cotton tiered top from Alessandra. It’s swishy and has so much movement to it, plus I think the dainty lace trim is really sweet. Has more of a feminine touch than many of the pieces I found myself gravitating towards for this capsule. I love a good juxtaposition so I went with distressed denim shorts, and then some mismatched accessories. Tan slides, and my new Polene Numero Neuf bag. Which, I am loving. It reminds me a little of a dumpling!
