Spring 30X30: Outfits Days 6-10

Spring 30X30 Capsule Wardrobe
& Other Stories oversized sweater Everlane cheeky straight jeans

I’ve been starting to think that my approach to this capsule was a little conservative. I’d expected that the weather would be somewhat on the milder end of the spectrum, and planned accordingly. When in reality, most days the thermostat has hovered around the 25 deg C mark, feeling more like a prelude to a hot summer’s day than anything else. My original picks were focused considerably around items which would layer well, or at least see me through the cooler days. A third of the way in, I’m beginning to rethink the need for some of those pieces. So, I see myself swapping out things which haven’t gotten wear towards the latter end of the month. Similar with what I did during my last capsule, and it’s giving me some food for thought about how I should really be approaching these each season. Do I start with ten core pieces and build from there? Or do I just take it day by day, adding items as I go? Would love to know how you approach your seasonal or shorter capsules. Anyway, let’s dive into what I’ve been wearing days six through to ten.

day six

& Other Stories knit sweater; Everlane cheeky straight jeans* (review here); Gucci loafers; Everlane studio bag*; Missoma padlock bracelet*

One of the strategies I had for building my capsule, was to include items that I wanted to wear more of. I’d purchased this & Other Stories knit a few weeks before beginning my spring capsule, so it was at the top of my list for items to include for that very reason. The fit is incredibly oversized – more so than I expected – so I feel like I have to be mindful of how I’m styling it. For day six, I decided to go for a neutral toned colour theme, with a slim silhouette on my lower half. That was my way of balancing out the proportions. I also took the opportunity to throw on my Gucci loafers, as I’m trying to get the CPW down on before it gets too warm to wear them.

day seven

Alex Mill stripe top; & Other Stories knit sweater; Assembly Label linen trousers; Birkenstock sandals; Polene number one nano bag*; Ana Luisa ring & bracelet* (10% off with code “Mademoiselle10”)

I’m really no stranger to wearing the same item multiple days in a row, so you’ll see that I ended up reaching for that & Other Stories knit again. Which, I might add, I mistakenly took for being 100% wool. I’m not sure if it’s the lack of sleep, or if I confused it with another item on the site before heading to check out. Either way, the quality feels pretty much on par with my oversized cardigan from the brand, but perhaps a little less soft. This time I paired it with one of my favourite spring textures: linen. I feel like I took a gamble with these trousers when I purchased them last year, but they’ve gone on to become one of my favourite pieces. I love the relaxed fit through the leg, and the cropped length. These do come up big. I have the AU8 and find that the waistband is a little large on me so size down if you have your eye on these.

day eight

Alessandra Cashmere top*; Madewell shorts; Jane Debster slides; Mango straw bag; Ana Luisa ring & necklace* (10% off with code “Mademoiselle10”)

I’ve been taking my time to finalise all 30 items in my capsule. I settled on adding a new top in, on day eight. I realised that there is a bit of a need for sleeveless tops given how hot it’s been. This particular blouse actually has a lot of drama. It’s tiered and has a slightly longer length, so perfect for twirling about. For something a little different, I tucked it into my shorts (the colour of which, I’m loving, btw). Warmer tones through the bag and shoes finished off the outfit. Loved how I felt wearing this!

Arket review

day nine

Alex Mill stripe top; Arket trousers (on sale for 50% off); Birkenstock sandals; Everlane studio bag; Mejuri pearl bracelet*; Ana Luisa bracelet* (10% off with code “Mademoiselle10”)

You’ll spot another addition to my capsule, and actually, a new piece in my wardrobe in this outfit. I’ve found myself really drawn to the idea of wearing trousers these days – over skirts – so have been on the hunt for some suitable pairs to wear during the warmer months. These instantly caught my eye when browsing the Arket website. And I have to say, they are fire. Quite possibly my favourite thing I’ve purchased from the brand so far. The cotton has a slightly brushed or sueded effect, so the hand feel is smooth and soft. I also like that the waistband is adjustable – it’s a nice touch and a feature I’d love to see more often in tailored pieces like this. Oh, and they are the perfect cropped length. My inseam is just shy of 28 inches (short given my height), so these will work if you’re petite, too. They’re currently on sale for 50% off so a total steal. This entire outfit was pretty pared back. I went for a black and white striped tee, and all black accessories.

day ten

Everlane ruched blouse; Arket denim shorts; Jane Debster slides; Polene number one nano bag*; Ana Luisa bracelet* (10% off with code “Mademoiselle10”)

Wrapping up with my outfit for day ten. Took a bit of a risk with this outfit, especially as meal times can be pretty messy with our little one. Again, I added in another item, a pair of off-white denim shorts. I really love the way that they work with the floaty blouse, and to kinda keep that monochromatic effect going, I also wore a pale grey toned bag. For shoes, I went with my tan slides as I feel like the style and the colour worked better with the overall feel and vibe of this outfit.

Hi, what size in the Arket chino khaki trousers did you get? Are they true to size? They look awesome!

Hi Melanie, I ordered the size 36. They fit like a slightly large AU8 but I think the 34 probably would have been too small. They don’t feel like they’re going to fall down on me at all. If you want to see a better view of how they fit, I featured them in my latest YT video too (the spring edit one). They’re an extra 20% off the current sale price at the moment too xx
