Spring Wardrobe Investment Pieces

I’ve been talking a lot about being selective with your wardrobe additions; when it comes to a new season, I think it’s smarter to carefully invest in classic key styles rather than splash out on a whole new wardrobe full of trendy items. Not to mention, better for the environment too. And, given that Net-a-Porter currently have 15% off with the code FWFASHIONFIX15, it seemed perfectly fitting to run through some classic spring wardrobe investment pieces which I think are worth the splurge.

The white trouser / The first spring wardrobe staple I think is worth investing in is a great pair of white trousers. I personally love how fresh these look, and a high waisted style with a tapered leg is the perfect transition piece to go from work to play.

The blazer / I’ve been relishing the opportunity to shed some layers now that it’s blazer season again, and the checked blazer in particular has been a style staple. I love how this instantly refreshes a simple white shirt and black skinny jean or denim skirt combo, by feeling both modern yet classic at the same time.

The midi skirt / The midi skirt is always one of those spring wardrobe staples that I find myself reaching for whenever the weather starts to warm up. It carefully bridges the gap between your winter and spring wardrobe, and can be paired with a long sleeved black turtleneck at the start of the season, or simply with a little cami or a plain tee in the stretch leading up to summer. I feel like a midi skirt is a great place to start if you want to add a bit of personality to your wardrobe – I love anything with polka dots or a bit of movement!

The mid-wash skinny jean / I basically lived in dark wash denim throughout autumn and winter, so I’m ready to lighten things up as soon as spring hits. These are really a classic all year round kind of staple, so definitely worth the investment. One of my current favourite brands for denim at the moment has to be RE/DONE; I’m particularly loving their high waisted skinny crop.

The mule / Mules are one of those “trends” that I’m glad is here to stay. Most designs are pretty minimal and elegant looking, though I do also love the options which have some design details that have been carefully considered, like my Chloe mules for example. The above pair from Proenza Schouler have been on my wishlist for quite some time; I love the silver hardware and bow detail across the foot – it’s so eye-catching and sets these apart from your typical mule sandal.

The heeled sandal / I’ll jump at any excuse to wear sandals, and I love a classically designed pair with a block heel to give me a bit of height, while still being comfortable to wear day-to-day. I’ve had my eye on this pair from ATP Atelier since last summer, and despite the fact that I probably already have something similar in my wardrobe, I’ve very tempted to make the splurge.

The statement bag / Perhaps the main thing that I think worth splurging on for the new season ahead is a statement bag. Personally, I love something a little structured and this little Givenchy beauty caught my eye recently (I also love the Pandora box bag, too), I love that it’s a fairly classic design, but what sets it apart is the interesting hardware and chain detail.

Will you be splurging on anything from the Net-a-Porter sale for your spring wardrobe? If you do, don’t forget that you can use the code FWFASHIONFIX15 for 15% off your order! x
