Spring wardrobe planning

With Spring just around the corner, and my own personal aim to not limit my shopping but “shop smarter” not having the desired effect I had hoped for, I felt it was necessary to devise a list of items I’d like to keep an eye out for the Spring season to try and get myself back on track. I’ve realised lately, more than ever, that there are some things which just don’t work for me, but look great on others. Not only this, but even the things that do look good on, don’t necessarily deserve or need a place within my wardrobe.

Admittedly most of the things that I have bought this year have been second-hand or sale purchases generally made online, as I’ve developed an obsession with hunting down pieces that I missed out on. This doesn’t make them justified, but it’s interesting to note that little of my shopping has been made in an actual store, and would explain why I’ve had a large number of “misses” with what I actually have bought.

This has of course brought on another wardrobe cull, and the formation of the below list. It is by no means a strict list that I must adhere to, but rather a guideline to keep me on track. As with all lists, over time some things seem redundant, whereas there are others which you can’t believe that you missed off in the first place

1. A white sleeveless blouse, preferably in silk. I’ve been eying up an Equipment one for some time, although the pockets on the bust have been stopping me, well, that and the price.
2. Flat ankle boots, either in a saddle brown or black. This has been a constant feature on my wish list, regardless of the season, mostly for their practicality. Because I can be so particular about flat shoes, this search has so far been fruitless, so I’m hoping with the release of the A/W collections in the Northern Hemisphere, that I may finally be able to fill this gap.
3. A tailored blazer in a soft sorbet colour. Country Rd recently started stocking their collection for Spring, and it is filled with soft lemon, lime, coral and turquoise colours, and admittedly I’ve managed to find a cropped pale lemon blazer there that fits the bill, which surprisingly, will go with more of my wardrobe than I had anticipated.
4. All white everything. This is something that I’ve been really drawn to for the warmer months, and I’m hoping to update the white pieces that I do own, in particular, replacing my white boyfriend blazer with a more structured and tailored one in a classic style.
5. Navy and white stripe t-shirt. While there’s no denying that I have more striped tops than I probably need, aside from one singlet, they all have one thing in common – long sleeves. I’d like something a little lighter for when the sun comes out, most likely in a cotton, with either a crew-neck or scoop-neck.
6. Something in a fresh Spring floral. I realise that florals for Spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking and virtually go hand in hand, but I think that’s what is so appealing to me.
7. A large structured bag. While I don’t think I will ever tire of my large Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, and I use my PS11 on a virtually daily basis, I’ve been casually keeping my eye out for something that is better for travel, and that I can use when I want to carry around my DSLR (which unfortunately doesn’t fit in my PS11). I’m still holding out, but am pretty keen to pull the trigger on an Alexander Wang Emile tote, most likely in the black.
8. More statement necklaces. While I have a few of these already, one thing I’ve decided is that I don’t necessarily want to make the same statement every day, and variety is key.

Not the shortest of lists by any means, nor do I think that it is entirely out of the realms of possibility to check each and every item off. My biggest struggle will probably be sticking to it, and not getting distracted by all the other things in the shops.

Oh gosh, hahah, this is so strange for me, since I live in the United States and spring just finished a while ago. XD
I really like these pics! Especially that white vest and floral skirt. So cute. 🙂

Haha yeah I doubt you will stick to this! Your ideas sound lovely for spring though. I have been eying off the Emile bag too, especially like the grey and even the burlap version on Outnet. Not sure if it’s worth the price compared to the all leather? But there’s just something about it…

I’ve seen some photos aside from the stock ones which put me off the burlap – I would wonder if it would get quite dirty too? I think the dove grey is beautiful, and an unexpected colour with the rose gold hardware!

P.S. I bet that Karen Walker dress will look amazing, can’t wait to see pics. So far I have only bought the navy with gold chain belt, as it’s hard to try things on with my baby, when I actually make it to the shops. Might have to take a gamble and buy online.

OH and just FYI I think most things fit true to size. And most of it looks good – from what I’ve tried anyway (which was a lot lol.. I hate regretting not buying things only to buy it seasons later and find it doesn’t suit me)

I’m thinking I might make a list too, but for next Winter since this Summer’s stock is not exciting me thus far 🙁
