The final day of the Spring Racing Carnival is Stakes Day, also known as as Family Day. While it’s still recognised as a fashion event, the closing day of the Spring Racing calendar is a lot more relaxed, and a great time for the whole family to dress up and enjoy. Many parents opt to bring their children along, and get them involved in fashion on the fields. The dress code still applies – so no shorts or belly buttons on display; it’s just a more informal look compared to other race days.

STAKES DAY 2019 STYLE GUIDE
What to wear | You can take the pressure off from wearing high-fashion, and embrace the less formal dress code of Stakes Day. Enjoy a looser fit, shorter hemline or perhaps even a flowy maxi dress paired with a large floppy, straw brimmed hat. As mentioned in the previous race day edits, pink has been dubbed as the trending colour this season, so if you haven’t given it a whirl yet, today is the day!
Millinery | Step out with effortless flair with a printed headscarf or simple bow. Embrace colour, prints such a whimsical florals or polka dots, and unstructured silhouettes but don’t forget a touch of youthful fun. Straw hats will be dominating this year’s Stakes Day, so try a boater, fedora or floppy hat give your races look a more relaxed feel.
Fancy feet & accessories | Complete your Stakes Day outfit with your choice of wedges, mules, slides with a block heel or even stylish flats are a go to for this final race day event. Even on race day, I think comfort is king. It’s a long day and no one enjoys sinking into the grass!
