Statement Sleeves

Today I wanted to share a very quick outfit post with one of my favourite details: statement sleeves. We may be on the cusp of winter here in Sydney, but we’ve had some unseasonably warm weather recently, which has seen me dip back into my spring/summer wardrobe.

c/o MLM Label dress (similar), Karen Walker coat (old but similar here and I love this one), Country Road slingback flats (also like these), Chanel boy bag (affordable option here)

The dress – with the incredible statement sleeves – is a new addition to my wardrobe from MLM Label. A little white dress is a bit of a staple in my closet, but what I like about this one in particular was the the dropped waist and the broderie detailing on the sleeves. They might be two simple details, but combined with the flared sleeves, they really elevate this piece from being just another basic cotton shift dress.

STYLING NOTES

01 | the leopard print flats
This outfit is all about those little details, and while the statement sleeves are the real hero of the look, I wanted to add in another statement-making piece; these leopard slingback flats. These are from Country Road, and I snapped them up as they make a great alternative to the Paul Andrew rhea slingback flats. They’ve got a low cut vamp which shows off just a little bit of toe cleavage, and a pointed toe which is my preferred when wearing a flat shoe, as they really elongate the legs.

02 | a pink coat
I really wasn’t thinking about the cost-per-wear when I sprung for this cotton candy pink coat from Karen Walker, but the cut and colour were just too good to resist, and I’ve been making a concerted effort to reach for this on a regular basis of late. One of my favourite details are the slightly cropped wide sleeves; I love these because it makes this the perfect coat to throw on over an oversized sweater, plus it gives you a little peek of what you’re wearing underneath – in this case, the gorgeous broderie details on the sleeves of my dress.

That dress is so pretty, and I love the lavender pink with the animal print. One of my favorite looks, top to bottom. That said, I love the look of bell sleeves, but I cannot wear them! I can’t push them up and they get dirty being dragged around on my desk at work. I’m not sure how others don’t have the same frustrations!

Thank you so much Rebecca! The sleeves are gorgeous aren’t they? You know I’ve never really thought about it like that, I think I must naturally push the sleeves up a little when I’m working? x
