Summer Dress Outfit Options

Marimekko X Uniqlo floral dress

The sun is shining, there’s barely a cloud in the sky. And, just ignoring the fact that it’s a sharp 17 deg winter’s day, I thought I’d share some cute summer dress outfit options for those of you in the northern hemisphere.

Since falling pregnant with my son in 2019, I’ve really found myself coming back full circle to wearing dresses. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you why dresses are a great foundation piece to have in your closet…

OUTFIT ONE

Wearing Marimekko X Uniqlo floral dress; Charles & Keith sandals

I’ve really been exploring elements of my personal style, and this really felt like a bit of me. The silhouette is long and has movement to it, there’s a squared off neckline, and thin spaghetti straps. The Marimekko print feels a little vintage, but the silhouette has a modern slant to it. For me it feels fresh and new, and I love it paired back with a simple sandal in a neutral tone.

Alessandra Cashmere navy tiered dress

OUTFIT TWO

Tiered dresses are my ultimate summer MVP; floaty, feminine, and easily worn both to the beach, or out for dinner. This one from Alessandra comes with a matching tie which you can wear with, or without. I love the shape it adds by creating a cinched in effect at the waist, giving a lot more volume to the skirt. Clearly this dress does all the talking, so I went with a classic black slide. Perfect.

AERE the label black linen maxi dress

Focusing on the back of this dress because for me, it’s the real focal point. Smocked at the front, with this fun criss cross ladder design at the back. It’s interesting, and what stops this linen number from being just another black dress.

Everlane pinafore dress review and Tibi Larkin sandals

Final dress I thought I’d share in this post is this shorter midi length option from Everlane. This dress was designed to be worn two ways. Either as a simple drop waist shift dress, with a tie at the back. Or, you have the option to style it as I have above; criss-crossing the tie at the waist to create more shape. Leaning into those warm tones, I paired the dress with a refined nude sandal. If you wanted to experiment a little more, I think you could probably engineer the ties and where the dress sits to wear it as a drop hem skirt, too.

And for fun, I’ve also included a few other cute summer dress options in the carousel below.
