I’ve always felt that the sign of a good purchase is one that you can’t stop reaching for. It makes you feel inspired, excited about your closet, and you’re quite happy to wear it, even with a repeat outfit.

At the moment, my current obsession is this ruffled skirt from Isabel Marant. While I’d call it a considered purchase (I did wait my requisite 30 days), it was still one of those items that I bought on a whim. I was 39 weeks pregnant, and anticipating the return of a waist in the not too distant future. I also figured it would be a flattering style. The tuliped hemline which crosses over at the front has the effect of making my legs look longer, and narrower than they really are. The cotton canvas fabric looked like a great option to transition from late summer through to autumn and winter (just add tights). I also loved the black contrasting belt.
Thankfully, my gamble paid off. While it’s warm, I’ve been wearing it mostly with lightweight blouses, loose t-shirts, and tank tops. I’m anticipating that as the weather cools, I’ll swap these out for fitted turtlenecks, and later; chunky knit sweaters worn both tucked in and loose.
As I share my outfits more regularly, I have no doubt that you’re going to see this skirt pop up again and again. Hopefully it’ll give you some styling ideas if you also own this, or something similar in your own closet! x
It’s gorgeous! I have a similar one in linen from And Other Stories. I can’t wait to break it out again as it gets warmer here. It’s such a flattering and easy to wear style.
