Acne Studios jensen grained leather boots
Item number two that I picked up for the 5PFW Challenge? A pair of black leather boots from Acne Studios. Let’s just say that while I’m still dead set on getting the Velocite shearling jacket (one day…), I needed to be a little more realistic – Sydney doesn’t often go below 11 degrees celsius, and I’ve had a pair of black leather ankle boots on my wishlist for going on two years now. A pretty wise compromise on my part, given that about 90% of my shoe collection is comprised of heeled sandals or suede flats!
I’ve had the Acne Studios Jensen boots just going on two weeks now and my first thoughts? They’re more comfortable than Isabel Marant’s dicker boots (if that is even possible), they require absolutely no breaking in, they’re durable, and they look incredibly sleek on.
I’m just a few days shy of the halfway mark on this challenge, so I’m hoping to give you all a bit of an update on how I’ve been tracking in the coming weeks. And for those of you looking to go on a shopping ban, I’ve got a few tips and tricks up my sleeve (although that’s another post for another day) to share with you all.
Shop Acne Studios Jensen boots:
love. Looking forward to seeing them on 🙂
I have been admiring these boots online for a few months. Love your investment choices so far!

Thanks Irene! I’ve got my third item on the way – will share it with you all in the coming weeks x
Kudos to you, for sticking to your 5 item list.
Would you recommend making a list ahead of time or go with the flow but keep it below 5 approach for people who want to do this challenge ? Coz i dont technically need anything. But its not realistic for me to just go on a fast. Probably, i should. But 5 items seems reasonable.

Personally, I think it’s a lot easier if you plan ahead of time. I started thinking about the challenge in December so I gave myself about two months to talk myself into it, but also to give me time to think about what it was that I actually wanted to add to my wardrobe.
Having a list helps to stay and track and to buy quality or statement pieces which you see yourself having for more than one season, which to me is part of the point. I think it’s a great way to look at trends or personal style. I’ll be sharing a video in the next week or two on the challenge which I think will address your question a little so keep your eyes peeled 🙂
Can’t go wrong with the Jensen boots. Great buy babe! Love them. 🙂

Doooooooo ittttttttt xxx
I love these Jensens, they had been on my wishlist for ages but then I went to Green With Envy in Melbourne and tried on a few different pairs and fell majorly in love with the Lomas which are similar but a bit of a higher heel. I reckon you’d love the Lomas too!!
This 5 piece wardrobe is such a good way to get a quality collection – I don’t formally do this, but I do usually make a ‘wishlist’ at the start of a season. Maybe I should start sticking to the list 😉

Hey Steph, I’ll have to check out the Loma’s, always on the lookout for a nice pair of boots as I feel like the right style for you can be hard to come by.
Sticking to a list is pretty hard though – I’ve already strayed from mine but I figured it was bound to happen! 🙂
Are the Jensen’s true to size? I’ve ordered a 39 & 40 since I’m usually a US 9 & in other Acne shoes I wear a 39. In these the 39 is feeling a little snug in the toe area & the 40 a little loose. Did yours stretch with wear? Would you keep the 39 or 40?
Thanks! 🙂

Hi Holly, I haven’t noticed much, if any stretching with mine although they were a perfect fit when I received them (I’m always an EU40 so I found these true to size) – could be as I have a wider foot. Have you tried them with socks? Mine only seem to have softened rather than stretched but in saying that, all leather does give over time (and I’m currently in the process of stretching out some shoes from Everlane which were WAYYYY too small and it’s happening.. ever so slowly!). But to answer your question, I’d probably keep the 40 and get an insole! x
Thank you for replying! Are you a US size 9 or 10?
Author
It really depends on the brand? I’m an EU40 consistently though and when I’ve tried to buy shoes from Nordstrom, I’m pretty sure in their own label shoes I’m a US9
Love the Jensen boots and I’m considering purchasing a pair. Do they run true to size or should I size up? Has yours stretched. Thank you!

Hi Sandy! Yes they do run true to size. I typically wear an EU40 in all my designer shoes and got these in an EU40 too. I wouldn’t say that mine have stretched per se but more that the leather has softened with wear. Hope that helps! x
Excellent! Thank you for your help Jamie 🙂
Hi, I’ve ordered the Jensen boots in 37 and 38. Normally, I’m a 37, but in this case the 37 is a little too snug (I have wide feet). I’d basically have to wear the boot without socks or with very sheer trouser socks. I read through your responses to this question back in March and am just wondering if you’ve noticed any stretching since then. I can’t decide if I should try to make the 37 work or keep the 38, which are a little too loose and kind of make my feet look big. Thanks in advance for your help!

Did you get the grained leather or the smooth? I’ve found that the closure is still really snug, but the boot itself is tremendously comfortable and is molded to the shape of my foot. I’ve had them a year and a half now and they’ve worn really well. Leather does stretch and I think if you wear with some thick socks you might be okay. If the 38 is big already they will probably stretch a little bit on top of that. I hope that helps you! xx
Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it! I got them in the grained leather. Hope you don’t mind, but I just have one more question – when you first got them in EU40, did you feel they were tight on you? I really love these boots, but since they’re such an investment for me, I don’t want to make the mistake of keeping a size that ends up not working out when I actually wear them outside and can no longer return them.

I bought them so long ago now that it’s really hard for me to recall. If it helps, I have a wide foot with a bunion on my left foot (which often causes me pain), and these are incredibly comfortable. I’m always an EU40 in every designer shoe that I purchase too and so in my experience and in comparison to other shoes I own, I found these true to size. Still not overly helpful I know! x
No, this was definitely helpful! Thanks again!! 🙂
