To wrap up the week, I thought I’d share a quick round up of three items I’m loving from & Other Stories. I’ve been patiently waiting for my pregnancy to be over before diving in and making my first direct purchase, but that hasn’t stopped me from having a wee browse every now and then.
There’s a few things I look out for when browsing. First, sticking to my colour palette. It’s easy to get swayed by interesting or fun new hues, but I’ve learned that I seldom reach for those items on a day-to-day basis. Second, whether it’s trend-led or not. I don’t buy into trends often, and when I do, they’re usually of the more classic variety. Finally, I question how versatile it is. Can I wear it multiple ways or do I need to buy an additional item to make it work in my closet? Safe to say, these three pieces would slot in nicely, and I could definitely see myself making quick work of getting that CPW wear down.
01 | Duo Pocket Skirt
Can you tell I’ve missed wearing items with a defined waist? I know even PP it’ll be a wee ways off, but this cute mini totally floats my boat. I love the thick waistband as it’d look amazing belted. And the pocket detail on the thighs is a fun way to add a bit of interest to an otherwise simplistic design. It’s beige, so a classic neutral hue, but the slight green tinge makes it feel different to anything I already own. This clearly looks amazing worn with an oversized chunky knit, but I think it’d also be beautiful paired with silk camisoles and an slinky cardigan for spring/summer, or cotton shirting for a smart-style outfit.
02 | Alpaca Blend V-Cut Cardigan
My second pick is a v-cut cardigan – in large part for practicality’s sake. Given I’ll be nursing over winter, and it doesn’t get overly cold in Sydney, I love the idea of wearing a cardigan like this as a top paired with some skinny or straight leg jeans. It’s a fuss-free combination, and one I already know looks good. This cardigan comes in a couple different colours, but I think the oatmeal is my favourite. The cream is gorgeous, but that added richness feels a lot more fitting for the direction I’m hoping to take my wardrobe in this year. Again, this would be another great transitional piece. Paired with shorts in spring on cooler days, or worn open, layered over a simple tee.
03 | Heeled Leather Square Toe Sandals
Daniel Lee has done wonders for the creative direction of Bottega Veneta, and it’s not hard to see how heavily his influence has trickled into the high street. These are probably one of the best looking takes I’ve spotted of those iconic mules that everyone seemed to be wearing last season. And actually, I think I prefer them more. The squared off toe feels vintage, yet modern at the same time. I love the rectangular angled heel. And the rounded cut across the vamp is another nod to vintage details. These I would wear with anything and everything. Denim in skinny, straight leg or boyfriend cuts; a-line mini skirts; leggings; midi and mini dresses. A shame they’re currently sold out in my size…
