At this point, I think I’m starting to sound like a broken record. But… could this be the best Sezane collection to date? The rich colour scheme feels like an antidote to minimalist dressing, and I love the simple yet elevated silhouettes (fun prints abound!). I’m planning on adding a couple of items to cart, but let’s window shop and highlight the best of the bunch – aka items I think are worth buying (and why!).
2024 Sezane Fall Collection Top Picks
Nicia Dress | One of the most popular pieces from Sezane’s 2023 Pre-Fall Collection, I have a feeling this is going to be a sell out again based on general sentiment I’m seeing. They’re returning the classic black, but also introducing a caramel leather version, as well as this interesting fern/murky green (my personal favourite). It’s 100% wool, soft to the touch, and has great movement to it. The style does run on the larger side so I recommend sizing down one. 1000% worth it.
Farel Jacket | One of the pieces I’m considering adding to cart, and I love both variations – the vibrant blue check, in addition to the more muted (but equally chic) khaki gingham. The latter actually looks to be reversible – and a cotton – so am curious to see a little more information about it, but this ticks a lot of boxes for me. No bulky collar to add too much weight around the neck, and it has a longer hemline – I tend to favour these as someone who is wider through the hip. Can also appreciate those big patch pockets on the hip too – practical!
Sadie Dress | Another one from my wishlist, and I was drawn to the dark blue – but not navy – gingham check. It’s always hard to tell from photos (Sezane love to leave much to the imagination, haha!), but I’m assuming that this will be in a cotton flannelette. Because it buttons the whole way down the front, I can envision this being worn open as a longer layering piece, in addition to the more traditional ways to wear (belted at the waist, with a knit thrown over top etc etc).
Valerio Jacket | I always get so many comments about my Titouan cardigan so I was excited when I saw that it’s been updated – by the looks of things, in merino! – in the Valerio Jacket. My experience with Sezane’s thicker merino pieces is that they are weighty. They feel welll worth the price point, and are a very warm alternative to a regular jacket. The caramel shade here is just gorgeous; I love that it’s been combined with gold tone buttons.
The Tote | Not exclusive to the Sezane Fall Collection, but a worthy new contender to the brand’s roster of chic bags. Personally, I was drawn to the high gloss element which I think is a visually interesting way to update a simple outfit. The style reminds me a lot of Phoebe Philo’s Celine Cabas Tote, but made more functional with the addition of a pocket. Only hard thing is deciding on the colour as they’re all gorgeous.
Viktor Coat | While I tend to think of most wardrobe additions by how easily I can knock down the CPW, the red checked Viktor Coat is truly a stand out. It’s admittedly one of the more expensive items in the collection, but if they’ve kept the fabric composition consistent it’ll be 100% wool and it’s fully lined. This is that high impact piece, the perfect update to an A/W wardrobe for the person who has all the basics already, and wants something that feels a little more fun.
Notable Mentions
Rodriguo Trousers | I thought this was a chic colour combo for autumn – a soft grey with an electric blue check running through (side note, I love the pairing with the Aaron jacket – coming soon). Sezane’s trousers tend to run on the long side so these will be great for the tall girls.
Eloane Skirt | I’m still tossing up whether I buy this, as I can see it’s a jacquard fabrication which I know will have no give, in a straight cut (not the best silhouette for a pear-shaped girly). This is the type of leopard print I can personally get behind as it feels a little more abstract, and the styling here gives context for how you could wear the skirt more casually. Another one on my personal wishlist.
Yohan Jumper | I have a top very similar to this from Goelia which I love, so can vouch for the usage value of something like this in your wardrobe. It’s simple; a black ribbed mock neck, but makes for a great layering basic.
Louisa Skirt | This is one that I like for the lack of structure. It’s 100% merino wool, which means it has a bit of movement to it. I especially liked the patch pocket detail and buttoned front (am assuming these are purely aesthetic/non-functioning). Also isn’t too short!
Damiano Pants | Wow is the colour of these pants just everything? A rich rusty suede with a relaxed cut through the leg. I like these in particular for those with a wider hip as suede tends to be quite forgiving (but high maintenance to look after so… do with that information what you will). This particular style is coming soon so not part of this first drop – something to look forward to!
Melanie Mary Janes | Perhaps a little predictable for autumn here but this oxblood/burgundy patent is just stunning. These have an ankle strap which from the front, you can see does create a visual break across the ankle, which you can easily negate by wearing a pant/skirt which covers this detail. I like the low walkable heel, and the side profile looks very sleek!
Smith Jacket | The moment I saw this I was instantly reminded of the Renato Jacket because of that beautiful blue and white embroidery (very chinoiserie inspired). This is hip length so not an ideal style for those wider in the hip but I think incredibly chic, and looks to be quite a thick option too that will keep you cosy and warm.
Aldo Trousers | One of those items that looks like a good staple to me – a classic fluid drape style trouser but in the most striking shade of red (LOVE!). Does come with a matching blazer too if you were after a statement suit moment. And side note but I love the styling of this look. That teddy camel brown paired with fire engine red is a match made in (sartorial) heaven!
