Tobi maxi dress*, Isabel Marant heels (similar), Kate of Arcadia leather pouch (similar)
If there’s one dress I know I can rely on, it’s the little black dress. Uncomplicated, minimal, and a classic worth reaching for again and again. My own closet has seen numerous iterations of the LBD over the years; the a-line mini, the boho-esque maxi, the fitted sheath dress and more recently, this slinky maxi dress from Tobi with a sheer asymmetrical hemline.
For me, it’s mostly down to the subtleties of the design; the fabric used (I love a little bit of peek-a-boo through sheer panels), any draping, and most importantly, the silhouette. Given that a little black dress is generally my go-to for any special occasion (weddings included!), as much as I love to reach for my old favourites, there’s nothing like giving your wardrobe a little bit of a refresh – especially if you can mix things up with a new style.
As the weather cools down, I’ll be making this slinky LBD work double duty, paired with oversized knits and slides for lazy weekends at home, a structured black blazer to play off the relaxed silhouette for night, or worn over a fitted rollneck sweater and some sock booties for the office. One thing that I’ve learnt this past year? Never underestimate the power of layering to truly amp up, or tone down, an outfit – little black dresses are no exception.
Omg this would look so good with a chunky knit! Like… FIGTNY style. Can’t wait to see how you style it in the future!

Aw thank you so much – definitely how I plan to wear it over winter 🙂
The length of this one is really flattering. Love it on you. I can see it being a great one to layer up as well.
